Happy National Teacher's Day!
Google is celebrating National Teacher's Day by announcing our next GTA - in Boulder 2009! The Google Teacher Academy hits the mountains of Colorado on August 5, 2008.   Applications now open until MIDNIGHT, July 3rd, 2009.
Google Maps 5/4/09
The Henry Hudson 400 Foundation has just added a Google Map to their website (http://www.henryhudson400.com/), chock full of Henry Hudson history: ancient maps, early harbor and coastline illustrations, stories of the first New Yorkers, photos, 3D models of Hudson’s ship the Half Moon, and of course, the routes Henry Hudson sailed. Students can explore the map to learn about geography, history, geneology, and technology.

Rome Contest 3/16/2009
In November, we launched the Google Ancient Rome in 3D Curriculum Competition in conjunction with a brand-new layer in Google Earth that models the ancient city of Rome in unbelievable detail. Today, we're announcing the winners! Check out the roster and adapt the lessons in your classroom by visiting the competition site today.
Doodle 4 Google 2/4/2009
Once again, Google is pleased to present Doodle 4 Google, a competition where we invite K-12 students to redesign the Google logo inspired by this year's theme, "What I wish for the world." The winning student's design will appear on the Google homepage for a day. Teachers, you'll find everything you need to register your class and get started at the official website.
Google Earth 2/2/2009
Google Earth 5.0 just launched and its new features will knock your socks off! With historical imagery and a touring feature, students can both go back in time and create easy tours to save and share. And now, with oceans in Google Earth, they can dive beneath the surface to explore underwater canyons, see shipwrecks in 3D, and view content submitted by oceanographers. Learn more.

Geography Awareness Week 11/15/2008
For the third year in a row, Google is delighted to work with My Wonderful World, a National Geographic-led campaign to give kids the power of global knowledge, on Geography Awareness Week. Students and teachers alike can explore a range of geo-activities using Google Earth. Working together on projects like this, that encourage people to roll up their sleeves and explore the world, is what Google's Geo Education initiative is all about.

Your students may be too young to vote for the next President. However, they can still express the issues that matter the most to them to their peers, teachers, and to the world. Get them involved in Letters to the Next President -- a writing and publishing opportunity co-sponsored by Google and the National Writing Project. Students will write and publish a persuasive letter addressed to the next U.S. President using Google Docs. Registration closed September 12, 2008.

Doodle 4 Google 2/13/08
If there's one thing kids love to do, it's doodle. So we think your class will be eager to take part in Doodle 4 Google, a competition where we invite schoolkids to play around with the Google logo and see what new designs they can come up with. The theme of this year's competition is "What if...?", a deliberately open-ended idea that we hope will get those youthful imaginations working overtime. There are great gifts for the finalists, and the winner's doodle will actually replace the Google logo for an entire day. So register your school and get those students doodling! Learn more.
