Update: 82 countries/territories and dozens of thousands of stations have broken heat records in these few days of May. What we are seeing (and will see, it will get much worse) these days is totally unprecedented in world climatic history.

Checkpoint May 5th: 70 SEVENTY countries/territories have broken heat records so far in just 5 days in May. More than any single WHOLE month before mid 2023. May is poised to become to most record breaking month in climatic history, together with February,March and April 2024.
