The Iranian missile hit Soroka Medical Center, a major hospital in southern Israel, and about 80 people suffered minor injuries, hospital officials said.

Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, Israel, was directly hit during a missile barrage early Thursday, Israel's Foreign Ministry said. A spokesperson for the hospital said on social media in the immediate aftermath that there was “extensive damage” and that it was carrying out an assessment, including of casualties.

Israeli military officials say Iran has escalated its missile campaign against Israel by firing a warhead packed with cluster munitions – the first reported use of the controversial weapon in the ongoing war.
