Through June 19th, the Northern Hemisphere has generated a paltry ~12 ACE (Accumulated Cyclone Energy). That's the 3rd lowest thru 6/19 since 1950, trailing 1977 (11 ACE) and 2017 (9 ACE). The eastern North Pacific (ENP) to 140°W has yet to have a named storm (e.g., tropical storm or #hurricane) in 2024. NOAA says no tropical cyclone formation in next 7 days. 4 years in satellite era (since 1966) have had 0 ENP named storms thru 24 June: 1969, 2016, 2019, 2023. pic.twitter.com/ItDejHAuEX
