Good morning! Although we have seen the arrival of a CME, the positive Bz has largely stifled auroral activity. Even still, there were some brief sightings at mid-latitudes. This just emphasizes the fact that webcams/aurora chasers are valuable ground-truth resources. pic.twitter.com/8mMXlS8MwK

Nice shock at L1 from what looks like a CME. Oddly smooth bt/bz combo right from the onset… we will have to watch solar wind data and see if they evolve to switch to a negative bz. Keep an eye on webcams and other real-time data sources tonight! Happy chasing! 🤞🏻 pic.twitter.com/pegJZUenZe

The Sun emitted two strong solar flares on June 1, peaking at 4:48 a.m. and 2:36 p.m. ET. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captured images of the events, which were classified as X1.4 and X1.0, respectively. blogs.nasa.gov/solarcycle25/2024/06/03/sun-releases-2-strong-flares-3/ pic.twitter.com/EIghjT3v0O
