Miami Dolphins trade Jalen Ramsey to Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers won by knockout when they sent fading free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins for defensive back Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith. A straight-up, Minkah-for-Ramsey deal would have favored the Steelers, let alone one where they got an 88-catch, eight-touchdown tight end thrown in.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says it is Fitzpatrick's price tag and his lack of splash plays that made the Steelers move off him in the deal. On top of that, they were not actively looking to trade him, but the right offer came up with Ramsey and Jonnu Smith, which the Steelres considered attractive.

4) Minkah Fitzpatrick, S, Miami Dolphins. His time there was marred with organizational instability under Adam Gase in Fitzpatrick's rookie season, followed by some serious head-butting with then-new coach Brian Flores over his role, precipitating his trade to Pittsburgh in September of 2019.
