Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez to wed in Venice

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are planning the wedding of the century. It's been two years since the Amazon founder proposed to the Emmy-winning journalist with a 30-carat engagement ring while vacationing in Europe.

Zaia said the celebrations were expected to cost 20-30 million euros ($23-$34 million). Bezos will also make sizable charity donations, including a million euros for Corila, an academic consortium that studies Venice's lagoon ecosystem, Italy's Corriere della Sera newspaper and the ANSA news agency reported on Sunday.

The banner reads: “If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax." The high-profile wedding has drawn protests among some local residents and organizations like Greenpeace, who are speaking out against over- tourism, disruption to everyday life and more.
