The suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Bradford James Gille, according to Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael D. Shea. Gille has a prior record of assault incidents and "controlled substance violations," Shea said Sunday at a news conference. Officials reiterated that the stabbings appear to have been random.

Eleven people, ages 29 to 84, were injured in a stabbing attack at the Traverse City store Saturday, and a suspect was arrested. Bradford James Gille, 42, was quickly subdued by other shoppers and taken into custody when a deputy arrived, the Grand Traverse County sheriff said.

The man, Bradford James Gille, 42, of Afton, Mich., also faces 11 counts of assault with intent to murder, Sheriff Mike Shea of Grand Traverse County said at a news conference on Sunday. Though officials said a motive for the attack remained undetermined, they are seeking to charge Mr. Gille with terrorism.
