Due to Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi's relentless efforts, June 21 was declared as the International Yoga Day by the United Nations General Assembly. In its resolution, the UNGA endorsed that "Yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being apart from striking a balance between all aspects of life.

'Yoga Sangam' is the main event of International Yoga Day celebrations, and will be organised at over 1,00,000 locations across India on Saturday, June 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing yoga in Srinagar on the occasion of International Yoga Day last year.

June 21, the summer solstice of the Northern Hemisphere, was chosen as International Yoga Day due to its meaning of light, energy, and equilibrium, a day when day and night intersect, which symbolizes the goal of yoga, which is to bring harmony between mind, body, and spirit.
