Search for missing campers continues after Texas floods

Camp Mystic, the Christian summer camp for girls on the Guadalupe River that was devastated by catastrophic flooding on Friday, is nearly a century old. Its facilities include a recreation hall that was constructed in the 1920s from local cypress trees.

Private forecasting company AccuWeather said it and the National Weather Service (NWS) sent warnings about potential flash flooding hours before it began, urging people to move to higher ground and evacuate flood-prone areas.

The Guadalupe River experienced major floods in 1936, 1952, 1972, 1973, 1978, 1987, 1991 and 1997.
