Search for missing campers continues after Texas floods

Dolph Briscoe flew to Comfort to assess the damage firsthand, and declared it one of the worst floods in Texas history. Until the recent July 4, 2025, flood, the deadliest weather event in the Guadalupe River's history came in July 1987. As much as 15 inches of rain fell west of Hunt in the river's upper basin.

The Guadalupe River experienced major floods in 1936, 1952, 1972, 1973, 1978, 1987, 1991 and 1997.

Among those still missing from North Texas are Hadley Hanna, 8, and Eloise Peck, both from Dallas. Lila Bonner, 9, of Dallas (right), has been confirmed dead after being reported missing from Camp Mystic following the Central Texas flash floods. Eloise Peck (left), also from Dallas, remains missing.
