In baseball circles, July 1 is recognized as Bobby Bonilla Day. On that day, baseball fans in the know celebrate one extremely smart decision by Bonilla and his agent when he was a member of the New York Mets.

If you don't know what it's all about, July 1st is the day that Bobby Bonilla will collect his $1,193,248.20 annual payment from the New York Mets, like he's done every July from 2011 through 2035.

Every July 1 from 2011-35, the Mets pay $1.19 million to a player that hasn't played for them since 1999.
