It's official: A new interstellar object is currently flying through our solar system at 61 km/sec. Comet 3I/ATLAS, as it's now known, is only the 3rd known interstellar visitor, but the @VRubinObs is likely to find dozens more in the coming years. science.nasa.gov/solar-system/comets/3i-atlas/ pic.x.com/jx5nHPCKwg

This animation shows the observations of comet 3I/ATLAS when it was discovered on July 1, 2025. The NASA-funded ATLAS survey telescope in Chile first reported that the comet originated from interstellar space: science.nasa.gov/solar-system/comets/3i-atlas/ pic.x.com/xVLMR5xs4n

We continue to follow the new guest of our Solar system! Recall! The interstellar object 3I/ATLAS has burst into our system. This is already the third interstellar object in the history of observations. Its diameter is about 10-30 km! And the speed of movement is 61 km/s. pic.x.com/dMD83ZSE9V
