It’s hard to imagine Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby without D. Wayne Lukas. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and mentor to countless trainers in Louisville and beyond. He will be missed. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/29/obituaries/d-wayne-lukas-dead.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

D. Wayne Lukas was the Coach, because no other trainer had a better coaching tree in horse racing. He changed the sport by reaching unprecedented heights. He also tried to fight @ByPatForde once.
