Toronto Blue Jays reliever Erik Swanson DFA'd

With Bowden Francis going on the 15-day injured list (right shoulder impingement), the Blue Jays have two question marks in their rotation. Tomorrow could be Eric Lauer. Weekend = TBD. Then Scherzer could in theory be active by next week if his rehab start goes well.

News: The #BlueJays have placed Bowden Francis on the 15-day IL with a “right shoulder impingement” Erik Swanson has been designated for assignment. RHP Paxton Schultz and LHP Justin Bruihl are up from AAA.

Eric Lauer will start for the Blue Jays on Wednesday ahead of Kevin Gausman on Thursday. Lauer is expected to be good for around 80-85 pitches. Blue Jays are planning for a bullpen day on Friday, with Spencer Turnbull throwing a bulk outing.

Bowden Francis has been dealing with his right shoulder impingement for 2-3 starts, says Blue Jays manager John Schneider. Francis had imaging done on Monday that didn’t return any structural issues — only inflammation.
