New details about the Air India crash in Ahmedabad emerge

Many aviation accidents are caused when pilots misread flight equipment, misjudge weather conditions or fail to properly address mechanical errors. Pilot error is considered the number one reason why planes crash.

On the Boeing 737-900 and 900ER, Seat 11A is infamously known as a window seat without a window. Thanks to the placement of internal components like air conditioning ducts or structural reinforcements, certain seats-especially those forward of the wing, such as 9A, 10A, 11A and 12A-lack windows altogether.

In many crashes the aircraft structure collapses and the individual is injured by impact with the airframe. These injuries can include amputations, major lacerations and crushing. When the structure collapses, the victims may become trapped within the wreckage and die of fire, drowning or traumatic asphyxia.
