Today, SCOTUS hears Trump’s ridiculous claim of total immunity. He's obviously not immune. SCOTUS is only protecting Trump and slowing his trial. SCOTUS should not have taken this case or frozen the district court. SCOTUS speeds up trials when it wants—but not in this case.

Reminder: In 2020, the Supreme Court unanimously rejected Trump's claims of "absolute" immunity as he tried to avoid a subpoena for his financial records in then-Manhattan DA Cy Vance's criminal investigation into Trump's business practices.

so according to Trump's lawyers, if Trump returns to power he could sell all of our most sensitive military secrets to the CCP and he would be completely immune from prosecution so long as he kept it quiet until he left office. This is something SCOTUS is taking seriously!

This morning‘s SCOTUS argument on Trump’s immunity was closer and more nuanced than expected, but I think many headlines are overconfident about how it’s going to come out.
